Furthering ATT Universalization Through Building Knowledge Via an ATT Academy

Target countries: Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo, Djibouti, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania

Goal: To support Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) universalization and effective implementation by increasing the level of technical knowledge pertaining to Treaty implementation

Activities and Outputs:

  • The project provided in-depth technical training on ATT implementation to fifteen government and civil society representatives from the Horn and East of Africa.


  • During the six-month-long learning programme, participants gained a thorough understanding of the Treaty, personalized training on practical issues they faced, and were provided with on-the-job support.













  • Key findings of this project were shared at a side event of the Third Conference of States Parties to the ATT in Geneva in 2017.
