UNSCAR also funds special-circumstances projects, which aim to provide rapid response to emergency situations. These projects can be submitted all year around. Since its inception, UNSCAR has funded two special circumstances projects: One, in the Philippines, to help clean up and secure ammunition that was scattered over a large area following the destruction of an ammunition depot by typhoon Haiyan; the other, in Ukraine, to enable the conduct of a baseline assessment of non-state armed groups and their weapons and ammunition.
