Senior national authorities of Mali validate small arms and light weapons physical security and stockpile management standard operating procedures
The United Nations Regional Center for Peace and Disarmament in Africa (UNREC) developed standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the safe and secure management and stockpiling of small arms, light weapons and ammunition for use by the security sector officers of Mali. The 26th of September 2017 marked the fourth consecutive year the United Nations commemorated the International Day for the Total Elimination of Nuclear Weapons. Hiroshima and Nagasaki Peace Messengers visits United Nations Office at Geneva
On 23 June 2017, over 20 Hiroshima and Nagasaki Peace Messengers (also known as Youth Communicators for a World without Nuclear Weapons) visited the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) in Geneva. The students from Japan were joined by first, second and third generation “Hibakusha”—survivors of the 1945 atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
