Building Capacity of National NPCs in Asian States for Streamlining and Strengthening the Implementation of the UN Programme of Action on SALW and facilitating their accession to the ATT

Target countries: Brunei Darussalam, Indonesia, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Philippines, Tajikistan, Thailand, Timor Leste, Vietnam

Goal: Strengthening the implementation of the UNPoA in Central and Southeast Asia and building capacity to reduce illicit arms flows, utilize the UNPoA reporting mechanism in order to monitor and report progress towards achieving SDG Target 16.4, and implement the ATT in the future

Activities and Outputs:

  • UNRCPD successfully conducted workshops with representatives from Central and Southeast Asian States, UNRCPD, UNODA, OSCE and ASEANAPOL in Ulaanbaatar and Vientiane to discuss current global, regional and national challenges and opportunities for the implementation of the UNPoA with a particular focus on National Action Plans and UNPoA national reporting.
