Security Council 1540 Committee Unveils Newly Redesigned Website

April 10th, 2012

10 April 2012 — On 10 April 2012, the United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA), in close collaboration with the UN Department of Public Information, launched the redesigned website of the Committee established pursuant to Security Council resolution 1540 (2004). The new website is a more accessible platform to promote key messages and engage stakeholders with users having the option of receiving real-time
information on new website content.

The revamp of the website sought to render it more user-friendly, more informative and interactive. In keeping with these three aims, the content of the site is now organized according
to the four main areas of the 1540 Committee’s work:

Unanimously adopted by the Security Council on 28 April 2004, resolution 1540 (2004) obliges all States to refrain from providing any form of support to non-State actors that attempt to develop, acquire, manufacture, possess, transport, transfer or use nuclear, chemical or biological weapons and their means of delivery.
