Weapon Control Measures in Bosnia and Herzegovina

Goal:Improve weapons management by assisting the government of Bosnia and Herzegovina by providing them with a comprehensive plan for the establishment of an internationally compliant weapons management system in order to reduce the possibility of diversion from national stockpiles.

Activities and Outputs:

Weapons marking workshop in collaboration with Small Arms Survey and EUFOR
  • The project produced a gap analysis of legislation and regulations in Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding marking and record keeping of small arms and light weapons (SALW) and established guidance for a registration database and a record-keeping system.

 

Training and Equipment needs – Assessment

 

  • HALO conducted field assessments of weapon storage sites and conducted interviews with relevant government representatives and evaluated training and equipment needs for SALW non-physical security, outlining recommendations on training contents and an indicative work plan.

 

Position Paper
  • HALO produced a position paper on “selecting marking technologies for the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina”.
